How To Play Hades
Hades rewards players who can patiently build up a board and outlast their opponent. Construct your defenses while slowly draining your opponent of resources and Devotion.
Build Your Fortress
Don't underestimate the weakest Minions in the Underworld.
Pneuma may only have 1 power, but they cost no Devotion to summon and reduce damage dealt to you by 1, to a minimum of 1. This protection stacks, with multiple Pneuma and Helm of Darkness you can reduce incoming damage by as much as 5.
Even when your Pneuma are destroyed, they're not necessarily gone for good. Charon, All Will Serve Me In The End, Asphodel Meadows, and Hades' Deathstate God Feat can all return them from your discard pile.
Need to stop an attack? Pomegranate Seeds can grant a Pneuma Guard until end of turn, forcing your opponent to deal with your defenses before they can reach Hades.
Become Untouchable
Sometimes the best way to survive is to make your opponent's best cards completely useless.
The Unseen One makes you unaffected by enemy spells and feats. Your Minions, Rituals, and Relics can still be targeted, but effects that directly damage, hinder, or force you to act simply don't work.
Lightning Bolt? No. Banished From The Family? Not today. Dark Skies? Nope.
Make a Deal With Death
The best deals are the ones that benefit only you.
Binding Deal allows your opponent to summon a minion from their discard pile for free. That sounds like a terrible deal, but Hades gains Devotion equal to the cost of the minion plus 2.
No one said this deal had to be fair. When used with Cerberus or Bident of Hades your opponent will take up to 3 damage for summoning that card from discard.
The Devotion gained from Binding Deal can be used to pay for cards like Tartarus. Allowing you to remove the card that was just summoned.
Turn Death Into Power
With Hades, your minions dying isn't a setback. It's part of the plan.
Erinyes gains 1 Power whenever a friendly minion dies for the turn. Use Pneuma to clear enemy guard minions and turn Erinyes into a devastating attacker with each Pneuma slain.
Helm of Darkness can protect Erinyes for spells and feats that might prevent their attack from landing.
The same ability makes Erinyes difficult to attack. If your opponent has to destroy your other minions before they can reach Erinyes, each death makes Erinyes stronger and forces them to decide whether attacking is worth the cost.
