How To Play Susanoo
Susanoo rewards players who know when to unleash explosive attacks and when to prepare for the long game. Build your power, bring fallen minions back into the fight, and use clever tricks to keep your opponent guessing.
Master the Blade(s)
Susanoo has multiple ways to increase his power and gain additional attacks, giving him access to devastating bursts of damage when his opponent least expects it.
The 10-Fold Blade can increase Susanoo's power or give him additional attacks, while the Grass Cutting Sword provides a powerful boost to his power. Used together, they can turn a single turn into a devastating assault.
Susanoo can use both relics to attack twice for 3 damage each, or combine their power to make a single 5-damage attack.
And if Susanoo is still on his Heroic side, his God Feat can increase his power even further.
Rise Again
When your opponent uses control and defensive strategies to drag the game into the late stages, Driven Out of Heaven gives Susanoo a way to keep fighting.
By discarding a card from your hand, you can summon a minion from your discard pile and put it right back into the fight.
One powerful way to use Driven Out of Heaven is to bring back a Western Kami.
Western Kami can attack, and if it survives, Susanoo can use his Deathstate God Feat to sacrifice it for 4 Devotion. With Fighting Spirit in play, that increases to 6 Devotion.
Duty Doesn't End With Death
Shimenawa allows Susanoo to bring a friendly minion back after it has been destroyed, making it especially powerful with Guard minions. Your opponent may have to spend valuable resources destroying your Guard, only for you to bring it right back.
Shimenawa becomes even more dangerous with Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu.
When one sibling is destroyed, its destruction ability can search your discard pile for the other. Shimenawa can then bring the destroyed minion back, allowing Susanoo to turn what looked like a devastating loss into another opportunity.
Embrace the Chaos
Summon Flayed Horse during your turn, then wait until the start of your opponent's turn. Activate its Feat to give control of Flayed Horse to your opponent.
Since the ability was activated at the start of their turn, they must now deal with its effect and destroy another relic. Because the Feat has already been activated that turn, they can't simply activate it again.
Flayed Horse isn't about dealing damage. It's about forcing your opponent to make an uncomfortable decision while you benefit from the chaos.
